The corner of Lincoln Avenue and East Second Street is about to get a lot more colorful.

The Loveland Visual Arts Commission voted 7-to-2 Thursday night to choose Japan-based artist Daas for the job of painting a mural that will cover the Lincoln and East Second Street sides of the garage.

Daas' chosen design, which he titled "My Favorite Things," consists of two mural images that will cover the sides of the building exposed to the street.

The Second Street side will feature a vibrantly colored image with the Devils Backbone rock formation and a black-capped chickadee, which is a native to Colorado, as the dominant images. The Lincoln Avenue side will feature an image of a young girl painting a miniature version of one Loveland's iconic HeART sculptures with images of a mountain while she "conjures up images of bird-watching and hiking around Devil's Backbone in her mind."
